If you have a pre-schooler in your life you will probably recognise the Octonauts' motto. Octonauts is a great kids program on Cbeebies it has really cute characters and pre-schoolers (and some mums...) love it.
My youngest in no exception in fact, he is absolutely obsessed with it and he keeps asking me for a Captain Barnacle's costume. Strangely, there is absolutely no Octonauts merchandising available to buy anywhere. Not a problem, I hear you say, you can just make something. This is just what my husband said to him: Go and ask your mum to make one. The thing with kids is that they believe that you can just do anything because you are their mum or dad, and I would hate to dissapoint. I didn't have anything I could use to make a costume, but I had an old turquoise t-shirt that I thought I could make a hat with. The fabric was stretchy, not particularly easy to work with and a bit floppy to make a hat.
So it's more like a headband than a hat, but he loves it and it's all that matters.
